Journaling reads: Grandpa Bob What a special man. I have so many wonderful memories of childhood time spent with him. Rides on the lawn mower. Running through the funny sprinkler, shaped like a tractor. Filling the watering can at the water pump to help water the flowers. His infectious laugh. Visiting him on a job site and climbing into his Grand Rapids Gravel truck. His long prayers at the dinner table. Me and Nate hiding behind his easy chair. Baptism in the lake at Camp Manitou. Playing Uno and Skipbo. Tackling hornet’s nests. Teasing every waitress at every restaurant. His hugs and kisses. And his “grandpa Bob language” . . . like, “prit near” (pretty near), “colder than a well digger’s auger”, “shoon” (spoon), “well I’ll be danged” and “now hear this!” Thank you dear God for my Grandpa Bob. My life is richer because of him.
