Hazel R. Poad, 56, Sarasota, died Jan. 27, 2000.
She was born Dec. 19, 1943, in Green Sulphur Springs, WV and came to Sarasota 34 yrs. ago from Beckley, WV. She was lab manager for Sarasota Memorial Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 1998, and working for Manatee County Blood Center in Bradenton until her death. She graduated from Concord College in Athens, WV. She was a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, David R., a step-daughter, Tracey Sweeney of Pittsburgh; two sisters Anna G. Duncan and Alice Sterrett Cassada, both of Staunton, VA, and one grandchild, Megan.
A service will be at noon Monday, at Waldemere Auditorium, Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Burial will be in Virginia. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the University of Texas, MD Anderson Breast Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.
