I took a photo of a flag and played with it in PS to make the background for the journaling, then printed it on fine art paper. Journaling reads: July 4th, 2005 - Freedom had a whole new meaning for me this year. Just days before the anniversary of our country’s independence, I gained some new independence of my own - I was finally able to get the hearing aids I had needed for several years. With hearing loss, I had felt shackled by my inabilities. I would avoid social situations or conversations out of fear of not being able to understand what others were saying. Then the audiologist slipped those little devices in my ears - it was like a whole new world opened around me! I
had all sorts of freedoms that had slowly slipped away as my hearing loss progressed! I was in awe of all the sounds I had been missing! It was wonderful! I can hear again!
