- Latin - Latina lingua: the beauty and structure of this language appeals to me, much more so than any other foreign language. For several years in high school and for one semester in college, I attended classes to learn the Latin language. I always desired to continue my study of the language and become more proficient in reading/writing it. So I kept my college textbooks, and a year or so after I graduated from college I began to study Latin on my own. Although at times life turns hectic and my study schedule
becomes sporadic, I keep pressing forward in my mastery of the language.

- Biking - As a young girl, I spent many summer days cruising the neighborhood on my pink Schwinn bicycle with the basket on the front and the banana seat. Feeling the speed and wind through my hair gave me such a sense of freedom. As a teenager, I upgraded to a 10-speed bicycle that served me well through the high school years. But in college, I rarely if ever rode a bicycle. In fact, it wasn’t until 2003 (I was 25 years old) that Christopher and I decided we wanted to return to our youth and start biking again. So that fall, we each bought a Specialized mountain bike and gear. To make a long story short, Christopher likes the trails and I like the roads.

- Cross-Stitching - Such beautiful things can be created with needle and thread! I began cross-stitching in my pre-teen years and became very enthusiastic about this craft. Both my skill and the complexity of my projects increased as I grew older. I have designed my own cross-stitch patterns as well as followed existing designs. Cross-stitching is not only a creative outlet, but it keeps the hands busy while allowing the mind to muse in quiet reflection. I find the pastime to be relaxing and peaceful. The finished products are given as gifts, or used to adorn my home, or simply tucked away.

- Computer Games - I love a good computer game that challenges me to use my brain and solve puzzles. My favorite games by far are the Myst series of games. Not only do these games allow me to engage my imagination in a different world, but they also require great powers of observation, logic, and invention. The other games I enjoy playing are the SimCity games, which give me complete control to build and manage my own cities. The SimCity games appeal to me because of their level of detail involved. I tend to be a very detail-oriented person, and I enjoy the micro-management of a city and its workings.

- Singing - Singing has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, I sang at church as part of God’s Kids, the children’s choir. I also joined the choir in middle school, and continued in choir through high school. During my senior year of high school, I successfully auditioned to be a member of Charisma, Northrop High School’s show choir. It was such a thrill to sing and dance in that sparkling green sequined dress in all the concerts and contests. I sorely missed singing and performing during college. So when I became Catholic and joined Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church, I volunteered to sing at the 8:00am mass!
