I just had to come back to this one to be certain I added it to my favs. This is the absolute most fantastic piece of work I have ever seen in my entire career here on sb.com LOL!!!!! I just can't get over how wonderful this is. Thank you for allowing me to lift this one. I'll have to put my thinking cap on again for another list of 10! You are awesome!!!
- Camping - Some of my earliest memories of family vacations were camping at Indiana state parks. I think my great love of nature stemmed from all those trips spent outdoors. Christopher and I continue the tradition and take several camping trips each summer. Hiking through the forests is not only an adventure, but also an opportunity to spend time together as a family, talking and laughing. At night, after darkness falls, we gather around the fire and roast marshmallows to make those delectable sweet treats: smores! And then we snuggle into our tents and fall asleep to the chorus of sound in the woods around us.
- Scrapbooking - I stumbled across a scrapbooking magazine sometime in 2001 and quickly became fascinated with this hobby. I started with a few very basic supplies: deco scissors, paper punches, templates, and cardstock. As time went on, I tried new techniques and bought new tools and supplies. In addition to scrapbook layouts, I enjoy making handmade greeting cards. I see my scrapbooks as a different and entertaining way to capture memories, and my handmade cards are a personalized and heartfelt way to connect to people. I'm proud of how far I've come in this hobby, and I hope to keep learning and honing my skills.
- A summer day wasn’t complete when I was growing up unless I spent a few hours in Grandma Vorndran’s backyard pool. My love of swimming prompted me to join the swim team during my freshman year of high school. Although I wasn’t the fastest swimmer, I thoroughly enjoyed being part of a team and putting forth my best effort. The backstroke became my strongest event, but unfortunately it took a toll on my shoulders. Although I only competed for that one season, I look back on it as one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. These days I don’t have many opportunities to swim, but I still love the water!
- Reading I have always loved curling up with a good book and immersing myself in other worlds. Science fiction and fantasy have always been my favorite genres, but I have enjoyed many other genres as well. When I was young, I greatly enjoyed the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis. As I grew older, I fell in love with Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels, which remain my favorites to this day. Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth novels are a close second. Other favorite authors include Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, David Eddings, and Marion Zimmer Bradley among many others.
- Movies - Who can resist a bowl of popcorn and a good movie? Whether in the theater or on the couch at home, I love to watch movies, especially with my sweetheart. Growing up, the original Star Wars trilogy was always a favorite, and now I enjoy the new Star Wars films. My most recent favorites are the Lord of the Rings movies, which were masterfully done and captured the heart of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world quite well. Of course, I also have a soft spot for the romance genre, and The Notebook is the latest romantic movie that has moved me to tears. Occasionally, I’ll feel the mood for an action movie, but typically those are Christopher’s choices!
