When I first looked I too thought the weaving was glass squares. But my main attraction to this was the movement the "slightly crooked" ribbon adds to the page. Beautifully done!

This is a pic of my niece Tiffany.
I found the ribbon to match her shirt and threaded thru the paper.
I used the angel charm to match the angel necklace she is wearing and also her headband says Angel.
Apparently the ribbon moved a little bit during the scanning process because it looks slightly crooked in the pic. But it really isn't.
