Journaling reads: This is the walk we won't forget! First because it was a long, long walk. Second because Papa Frank walked just inches past a rattle snake almost stepping on his tail. And last Uncle Tom and Aunt Marel walked with us.
We started down the old dirt road that leads to the creek. You two played at the edge of the creek for as long as I could stand it. I am a worrywart when you two are around water.
Then we walked to the watershed. It was beautiful, all the rain we had earlier that month filled it up. You two loved it but I had to get you away from the water before one of you fell in.
Then we walked up a hill, it was really more like a mountain. Climbed over the cow fence, walked about 20 yards in the pasture and then Papa Frank saw it. There he was in the tall grass just getting some sun just looking around. Lucky for us we were walking in a straight line a little behind him when he saw it. If one of us was walking next to him that person would had gotten bit. Your Papa Frank wanted me to take a picture of the rattlesnake (the camera is always in my hand),I was shaking so bad I couldn’t take a good picture. We were so close to him but he didn’t see us.
