Tomorrow would have been my parents' 61st anniversary; Daddy died last Sept 27. This is for my Mama.
Mama and Daddy were married on September 8, 1942.
Daddy was in the Army Air Corp and stationed at Kelly
Field. He managed to slip away and drove to Houston,
where he and Mama were married at 11:30 p.m. at
Christ Church Cathedral. His parents and Mama’s parents
were both there. When they returned to my mother’s parents’
house, the women slept in one room and my father and the
other men slept in another room. The next day he had to return
to base and the WAR.
