Journaling:
Day One and Two: June 6th
Our trip to Europe started when I met the Dunlaps at Tulsa Int’l after lunch. Our flight to St. Louis was delayed but we still managed to get to London within a couple hours of our original estimated arrival time.
June 7th
Tired from lack of sleep, (our flight arrived around 7 or 8am Great Britain time, 1 or 2 in the morning Central time) we set out with a few hours to tour London. From Gatwick Airport, we boarded the “Gatwick Express”, a train that whisked us to downtown London. On the way, we got to see some of the older parts of London. The homes, apartments, factories, junkyards, and train depots were all nestled together under light grey skies. The real charm of England was there in the “common places”.
After getting off the train, we found a booth selling tickets for “The Original Tour” of London which ran about two hours. Tickets were bought and we were on our way to see the sights of the historic areas of London. First, we wound through the streets of Westminster, stopping first at Westminster abbey, viewing the abbey and surrounding buildings.
