16th pages from my Europe Vacation - our self guided tour of Naples. We had some real Italian pizza, and it was nothing short of amazing!
Journaling:
After returning to the port, we took a short, self-guided tour of Naples. The city is known for its active, colorful community, as well as for its cultural and historic institutions.
Being the last day in Italy, we were determined to have some real Italian pizza. Naples is the home of pizza, and it didn’t take long to find a great restaurant. Everyone loved the authentic Italian pizza and trying to eat what the waiter told us was for one person.
Our next stope was the Castel Nuovo, a palace and fortress built in the 1300’s. The castle became a cultural center with artists, doctors, and writers coming to stay there. The only guide we had to the castle was a brochure that was not the best English, so we made things up as we went along, having a grand time. On the top of the castle was a lookout where we could see the bay of Naples and several miles of city.
