Wow! Great story! I like to watch storms too. Never seen a tornado but I've been in the horrible weather around them. The pics on your LO...what are those from?
Oh .... I just love a good thunderstorm. I cant stay away from the windows and I love the cozy feeling when the house gets all dark. When I was little, I always wanted to go out and watch .....hated going to the basement.
Love your layout. I has inspired me to do one of my own. The other night in KC when we had all the tornado warnings my son who is 3 yelled "There's a tomato coming!" (He can't say tornado) After I realized the storms were all north of us we went out to watch the sky. Another storm watcher is born! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
Journal (Under Photo): I love storms. Few people know this about me. Now don't get me wrong. I don't like bad storms that kill people and animals and destroy homes and businesses. I like to watch the changing sky.
It all started when I was little. Whenever there were tornado warnings or severe storms warnings, my dad and I would go outside to watch the sky. My mom would go to the basement. I guess my dad loved storms, too.
There is nothing I like better than a nice, loud thunderstorm on an otherwise bright, sunny day. I love to go to my scrap room, which has big windows down two walls. I listen to the thunder, watch the lightning and scrap away. When there are tornado watches here, I go outside and watch the clouds.
I saw a tornado once. I was 14 years old, in the dentist's chair on the 5th floor of the Argyle Building in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I could see all the way to Kansas City, Kansas from my perch. The dentist had the radio playing softly in the background. All of a sudden the announcer broke in and announced that there was a funnel cloud in Kansas City, Kansas, headed for downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The police turned on their lights and sirens and I could see them getting everyone off the sidewalks. They were directing them into the shelter of the buildings. The library building was right across the street. Their staircase was in the corner of the building and made of glass windows. I could see the librarians and secretaries grabbing their purses and running down the staircase. My dentist, an older man (probably in his 70's), reached over and shut off the radio and continued working. As I looked straight out the window I saw a big black cloud. The tornado dropped out of the cloud and I could see debris and dust blowing everywhere. The funnel rose back into the cloud before it got to downtown Kansas City, Missouri, but I then realized that I had witnessed a tornado from beginning to end.
