Journaling:
All of these phrases are words that I choose to describe this place that we live. However, freedom comes at a price. On September 11, 2001, a tragedy struck like none other in history. Shock, fear, panic, and sorrow were just some of the emotions that I can recall. I remember that I was getting ready for my 7:30am class and was listening to the radio when I heard the news. I couldn’t believe it. I went to pick of my friend Kari just as the second tower was hit. When we got to campus, we discovered that our classes were canceled, as our professors were also very emotional. I remember sitting on the couch that night, talking with Scott about the day’s events. I was crying. Even though we had just started dating, I knew that I didn’t want to lose him in the event that he would have to leave to go fight the war. The future seemed so uncertain and unstable. Day by day, things got better and the future seemed more hopeful. I’ve never seen so many flags displayed the way I did after 9/11. People came together and helped each other to re-build this country. Things are far from perfect, but I am proud to be an American and to live in this beautiful land.
