When my grampa died in 1987, my parents moved out of their house and onto my grandparents ranch to care for my grandma. The property is 5 acres, but only had a small house on it (my grandparents). So my parents moved a 35 foot rv trailer onto the property, and converted one of the outbuildings into their living room. So the only bathroom they had (due to lack of plumbing) was the rv, which in my opinion doesn't count as a "real" toilet. After awhile on the ranch, they converted a barn - literally a horse barn - into their primary residence, but again, no shower or flushing toilet. So anytime my parents had an event at the property - family gatherings, funerals, etc. they would have to rent a portable toilet for their guests to use. Now that my Pama is gone (lost to Alzheimer's in 2006) and they don't have to provide her care, my dad's dream is to move he and my mom to a real house in Idaho, where my mom can have "real plumbing". I think it shows my mom's versatility and strength and some of the sacrifice she has made for our family.
