SHCG: Marsha. this is beautiful. I have to admit, knowing how special this is to you, I have a hard time going full throttle with my critique. However, this is what we do, so here we go. I think this layout is beautiful! I love the background, the gorgeous background, the pussy willows from your mom's yard (how cool is that?), the beautiful picture. However, I am seeing things a little differently. I think that I would like to see it lightened up and more whimsical. I would like to see the dragonfly smaller and placed in the top left corner. I don't want the quote to "weigh" down the wings of the dragonfly so....I'd like to see the quote in small font trailing the dragonfly like a path: swirley and continuous. I can sketch it out and send it to you if you are interested in my suggestion. I'd then like to see her name and date smaller and in the bottom right corner with an anecdote attached. Where was this taken? How does this quote apply to Holly? Does that make sense? This is so stunning, and those are my only suggestions for changes.
SHCG: I think the LO is adorable, but would sugest changing the font to be something a bit more flowing to go with the dreammness of the rest of the LO
SHCG: Ooh, I love the idea of printing the quote over the dragonfly wings. I also like how she gets a pair, which is a different take on the angel or fairy wings. I agree on fixing the spelling typo, and reorienting the words so that they flow more smoothly when reading them. I also agree that the font is too stiff for such a whimsical, dreamlike page. I can see the Curlz font, instead, and/or a simple, not overly flourished script font. Finally, I'd like to see the font in a color that mimics gossamer wings with pink and blue hues. The pink will come up nicely against the green bg.
SHCG: This page is so whimsical and I love that feel about it. I think I would like to see more colorful dragonflys on this page that would match her shirt a bit...kind of scattered throughout the page.
SHCG: What a beautifully special LO for a little girl! The colors are beautiful and dreamy and I love the whole effect. I like the suggestion about the font on the lettering, other than that, great job!
Totally love the wings on Holly. Great extraction and wonderful shading. The font is a bit harsh in comparison to the rest of the page, but still totally adorable!
I would love to see more bling and a softer font. But that aside...your photo extraction is amazing (especially on the willows...that must have been so time consuming!). Love the bg pp too!
super cute page! the word "free" runs off the page a bit, and I don't know if you meant to do that or not. You did a great job with the photo extraction! Love the colors.
SHCG - Marsha, you already have created a beautiful magical feel here! It's a gorgeous start as is but you sounded like you really wanted more ideas in the thread so here goes... Regarding the writing on the wings - it's an excellent feature but I think that most people's eyes are used to reading left to right, so I would have the quote read across the top of the left, then the right, then back to the middle left then right & so on (rather than doing 3 rows on the left then going to 3 on the right) - make sense? So "dreaming a" stays put, "dragonfly's dream" would be the 1st row on the right, w/ the 2nd row (left/right) being "is to set free," & 3rd row would be "imagination's wings". Though in some cases you would have to figure out how to space the words so they're even on each side like they look now (resize words or go over the dragonfly's body). Also, agree w/ Janet on correcting "imagination." I believe given the dreamy quality of the LO, adding some bling/iridescence/shimmer/sparkle throughout would be a cool addition (though certainly not "necessary"). And I think the "Holly 2006" could be in a curvier font, looks a little matter-of-fact there on such a magical page. Incredible so far Marsha, I really love this LO, it has a lovely, special feel to it...can't wait to see where you go w/ this!
fantasy, my own paper, pusy willow pic is from my mothers yard, dragonfly from brenda walton. wings are from wings and things journaling: dreaming a dranonfly's dream is to set forth immagionations wings.
