Thanks to Samsmom for inspiring me to put my 9-11 feelings on paper!

Journaling reads:
I never was what you would call a patriotic person. I was a cynic, and saw only the flaws in our government and judicial system. And then, on September 11, 2001, everything changed for me. As our country was threatened, I realized my own fierce loyalty to America and those who fought to protect it. And I was scared. The world seemed such a terrible and cruel place. And on that very day, we found out we were pregnant with you. I laughed, and I cried, and I prayed, and I feared for what place you would come into. But on that dark day, you were our glimmer of hope. And now, on Independence Day, 2005, I look at you, three years old and full of promise. America is still far from perfect. But you, you represent all that is good about our country: beauty, hope, freedom, and intelligence. So now I would say that yes, I am a patriotic person. I believe in America, and I believe in you.
