Journaling behind center photo reads:
My Baby Girl,
The other day when I was looking at pictures of you as a baby and toddler, I began to reminisce of days gone by. When I look at pictures of you throughout the years, I marvel at the girl you are blossoming into. You are so fiercely independent and often when I try to help, you will respond with “No Mom.” As a mother to watch you struggle to do something and then fail makes my heart ache for you. But, I know that by allowing you to do things on your own will make you a stronger and more secure person.

As a baby and toddler you were very much a Mommy’s girl and did not wonder far from my side. Now, you have developed a sense of confidence that radiates from within you. Gone is your shyness and reluctance to try something new without Mommy by your side. My, how I love to see you walk into a room and everyone’s attention is drawn to. You have an inner radar that allows you to judge if someone is a good person and you seem to be drawn to these types of people. Often you will wander over to that person and say a few kind words to them. You have many special friends, young and old, that have told me that you hold a special place in their heart.

Gone are the days of cuddling and giving you endless kisses. The giving of kisses and hugs are done on your terms, but my how I savor those moments when you give my a kiss or hug. Sometimes I cannot help myself and I will try to steal a kiss and you will say, “No Mom.” Of course, this makes me a little sad but I know you are comfortable with who you are and not afraid of asserting your boundaries to others.

As a mother, it is hard for me to let go of my baby girl. At the same time you are blossoming into the most beautiful girl who is truly unique in herself. I have always wanted the best for you and will be there by your side when you need me. I will love you forever and you will always be my baby girl in my heart.

Love Mommy
