I'm a history nut too. I find this very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I can get out to Wilson's Creek Battlefield and get some picuures this week.
In 1863 this place between the 2 fences was a sunken road, on either side were fields with tall crops. This was the site of a fierce Civil War battle and the name of the road changed from "Sunken Road" to "Bloody Road" (or bloody lane). The monuments on the road are dedicated to the troops who fought here. I'm a history buff, so this was really interesting to me.
