My objective was to contrast old and new. The focus point being the 5 x 7 photo with the 4 young girls (our daugthers) and the old car. The two sets of sisters have become friends just as their moms, and their moms before them. I decided on using the oval shape repeatedly because of the oval windows in the car. The shape is both elegant and old-fashioned.

Journaling reads:
My bosom buddy, Birgit, and I go back 30+ years, and we don't meet very often anymore since she lives in Bergen, Norway and I live in Houston, Tx. Still, we keep in touch via letters and e-mail and it's all the more enjoyable when we do get to meet and catch up.

This summer we managed to meet in St. Louis with husbands and kids for some Fun in the Sun. We especially enjoyed the water park at Six Flags - probably the closest you can get to a beach in Missouri!

As we watched our own kids playing, it brought back so many good memories of summers we shared as kids frolicking on the beach, and attending childrens' camps. Our furthest journeys back then were just a short drive away, while our daughters have traveled across the Atlantic many a time. Seeing our young girls in the historic automobile made me reflect on how womens' roles have changed in the past century. And in the future, what will life be like for our girls and their children?
