Baby pictures of my sister who has Down's Syndrome. She is now 64 years old and because of health conditions lives in a nursing home.

Journaling: Nedra Ellen Taylor was born November 21, 1940 in Jonesboro, LA. With each developmental milestone she showed delays that were eventually identified as Down's Syndrome. One doctor told Mother she would not live to seven years of age; however, she thrived in the nurture of her parents, doting grandparents, and special caretakers like Allie V. Haynes. There were no special education programs for her in the 1940s. Since she could not learn academically, she remained at home with Mama Ellen and Allie V. after a year in regular classes. Mother patiently taught her basic social skills and she enjoyed household chores , such as ironing, folding clothes, and washing dishes. She became notorious for finding chores for everyone in the family!
