Journaling: As the ground finally thawed from an icy, cold winter, a wave of green grass and tiny, new buds began to spring up all around us. This was one of the first early spring days we spent at the park. You had just turned eight months old, your first spring. You loved being outside. When I sat you on the blanket you started to laugh and looked up at me. You continued to laugh at the grass around you and began to pick at it, amazed at its texture. You are always laughing, a joy I love to listen to every day. In this picture I am beginning to see the little boy that you are becoming. No longer are you my tiny baby. No longer are you looking for me before every move you make. Suddenly, the world around you seems so inviting and you take pleasure in its surroundings, welcoming each new experience with open arms. I am finding it somewhat difficult to let you go, wanting to hold on to the baby moments a little longer. But I know that your developing independence is a good thing, and I will treasure these moments just the same. I love you!
