Journaling tucked in an envelope glued to the back side reads:

Year 2007 was the 30th year of my life and I decided to celebrate it by hiking a lot and covering many trails I had on my hiking list for a while. I think with 49 hikes and 387 miles in my hiking log I can honestly say I succeeded.

Together with my wonderful hiking group we hiked various places from Hwy 2 where my town is located, through Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier, and got as far as South Cascades and Oregon Coast.

We hiked in various terrains. We braved steep rocky slopes, crossed streams, climbed snowy slopes, and glissaded down. We strolled through the desert of eastern Washington as well as crossed numerous snow fields here on the Western side. We climbed peaks and enjoyed their views; we hiked to lakes and enjoyed their serenity.

Sometimes we hit the perfect sunny day when sky was blue and birds were chirping in the trees, sometimes the rain got us soaked, and sometimes we found ourselves freezing in a chilly winter blizzard but no matter what the destination was, what the conditions were, we had fantastic time in the great outdoors. There is simply no such thing as a bad day on a trail.
