Just a simple layout about the day my daughter went out to play in the rain.

Journaling says:

For about a week, our area was soaked with rain. On some days, the thunderstorms were particularly violent with lots of wind and commotion, and on the morning of June 4, 2008, such a storm rolled in, knocking out power all over Northern Virginia, including our house. It also peppered our lawn with leaves and branches. You are definitely not a fan of storms - especially lightning and thunder - and you were not happy that all the lights were off, especially in your toy room in the basement. What was a girl to do for the afternoon without any light? Well, sometime after lunch, I noticed that the skies were a lot lighter, even though it continued to rain big time. No lightning, no thunder, no wind ... just big, fat "crocodile tear" rain drops - perfect for playing in the rain. So, I convinced you to change into your swimsuit (you were VERY skeptic) and took you out on the front porch, where you stood on the step, looking at me like I was nuts when I encouraged you to go play in the rain. Even Daddy was trying to get you to step out. When that got us nowhere, I asked if you would help collect the branches in front of the steps. Always the eager helper, you tentatively picked up a few in front of our feet. I pointed to some a little further out on the sidewalk, and you dutifully obliged, although you sprinted back onto the porch. This continued until I finally had you running out onto the lawn, and by then, you were laughing hysterically. I managed to snap these two pictures before my camera battery died - a casualty of the power outage. Nevertheless, I will never forget how much fun you had playing outside in the rain for the first time. Eventually, you abandoned the "stick game" and did your own thing - practicing ballet moves, jumping in puddles, spinning around with your arms open and your face up to the sky, catching drops in your mouth. It was as much a joy for me to watch as it was for you to try something new. Now, whenever the gray clouds roll in and the rain begins to pour, I expect you'll be out playing in the rain.
