WOW, this is absolutely stunning. I have always admired the American Indian culture and philosophy. This LO is breath taking and the more I admire it the more details I find. Even the description you have written is beautiful!
Wow love the journaling & what a beautiful song. I think u just captured all our feelings. I hope more people & companies get into recycling & reducing trash.
Amazing Lo and very moving...I too get very angry about litter and teach my daughter that it's Ok for Mum to pick up other peoples rubbish and take it home and put it in the recycle bin!!! Hopefully the message will get through to the next generation, but I was brought up in New Zealand and it used to be sooooo clean I still hope it is but things change...do I sound like a grumpy old lady??????
Amazing in every way! I see bios all the time that read "I'm inspired by everything around me" - I honestly believe you are the one person who can truly, truly claim that. Gorgeous work - as always.
FUNNY I was commenting on someone else lo and saw your face and just head to go to your profile, talking about divine intervention, but am so glad that i did. i so get what you did and what you had to say. i to have these thoughts in my head but i find it so hard to put it in words or for that matter on paper , but am working on it. thank you so much for doing this. have a blessed life
Awww sweetie, you just can't help yourself. Everything you touch turns to beauty! You are so right as well; we have much to learn from the indigenous peoples.
This is beautiful. Yes we need to start now to prevent further deterioration of the planet, the air we breathe, and the water, so the future generations will have some expectations of surviving. Great Law of the Iroquois was indeed sight into the future, unknown to greedy settlers. I wish everyone had paid attention to it!
this is an incredible and very impactful lo, I so love that you have incorporated the recycled materials. I am hosting a scrap it green challenge this month that this lo would be perfect for. I think horse-withnoname gave you the link below but here it is again. http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/1469447/
Magical, mystical, profound thoughts and Words by the Great Law of the Iroquois! We have already raped, plundered and murdered our living environment. Thank you for making us think about it. Please consider this challenge a sb.com member is having. If you have trouble getting started with a challenge, pm me and I'll walk you through it! Its http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/1469447/post/8218239/hl// This is a sb.com member hosting the challenge on this site. Your layout is perfect for it!
I put this in my faves, as I believe once put in the community gallery it will get the attention it deserves...so will joining the chalenge!
Alright, this LO was created not with the thought of beauty or traditional scrapbook techniques in mind. This LO was created for one purpose..to challenge the viewers thoughts, values and principles as well as my own. The other day, I was driving in my car along the normal interstate route that I drive everyday-when I noticed all the cars, factories, buildings and trash along the road-just as these thoughts started flooding my mind , the song “Let the Children Cry” by White Lion came on the radio-now that is just Divine Intervention-Thank God! So, I started collecting the trash in my car trash bag-yep, the same trash that I normally just throw in my dumpster so it could go to the landfill. As I was collecting the trash, I thought-I should use this trash as embellishments on a LO! I added the flower, to create a contrast-That even among all the trash a flower can still breakthrough and bloom. I created the picture in the LO by cutting many smaller pictures and incorporating them into one-I really love the baby in my hand! Of course, after I finished the LO the same reoccurring theme kept came to mind-yep another American Indian principle- “The Seven Generations” –for you who do not know about the Seven Generations; Traditionally, indigenous people would not make any significant environmental changes until they had carefully considered how it would affect the ecology of their descendants seven generations down the line. This is because indigenous people have direct contact with the responsibilities given to their ancestors and also have direct contact with their own responsibilities to the generations yet unborn. They feel all generations are connected and believe we must think of the effects of decisions made today on the Seventh Generation. Wilderness Journeys and nature based programs are a pathway: Anyway the journaling in the upper right-hand corner reads: “ Whatever befalls the Earth, befalls the inhabitants of the Earth” There is hidden journaling and it is addressed to the “Future Children” it reads:
This is my invitation to you…
“The Next Seven Generations” What does the future hold for our next seven generations? What do you see in the future of the inhabitants of the people on earth? What do you see for the future of our Earth? My Questions are….What are you doing about it? Are the decisions you making today, effecting the next Seven Generations? I heard this song and I was so inspired to start making a difference for the next Seven Generations:
Dry your crying eyes, how can I explain, the fear you feel inside. Because you were born, into this evil world, where man is killing man and no one knows just why. What have we become, just look what we have done, all that we destroyed, you must build again.
When the children cry Let them know we tried 'cause when the children sing The new world begins
Little child, you must show the way, to a better day, for all the young. Because you were born for the world to see, that we all can live, in light and peace. No more presidents and all the wars will end one united world under god.
When the children cry, let them know we tried. Because when the children fight, then we know it ain't right. When the children break, let them know we're awake because when the children sing The new world begins…….
Treat the Earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. Ancient Indian Proverb
In every deliberation we must consider the impact on the seventh generation... even if it requires having skin as thick as the bark of a pine." - Great Law of the Iroquois
