I completed this layout for the inspiration challenge for song lyrics. I had been wanting to make a layout about September 11th for my son's baby book, because he was born just 2 weeks after it happened. I can't think about 9-11 without immediately thinking about my son.

The CD is a Copy of Alan Jackson's song, "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)". If I figure out how, I will print a CD label that goes with the layout.

The journaling is really long but if you're interested:

The Tag says - There are moments that define generations. For your great-grandparents, the bombing of Pearl Harbor marked one of those days. In your grandparents’ generation, everyone can tell you where they were when President Kennedy was shot. For this generation, September 11th was a pivotal date that will forever remain in our memories. In the future, if anyone asks where you were the day the world stopped turning, you can answer that you were not yet born, but you were present, you were thought of, you were loved.

The main journaling says - On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, your Dad and I woke up to the sound of the phone ringing. Grandma was calling to tell us to turn on the news because there had been a terrible accident. A plane had struck one of the towers at the World Trade Center. As we sat there in bed looking at these terrible images, we saw a second plane strike the other tower. These images came to us live as they happened, and they caused our world to stop. Suddenly we new that this was not just a tragic accident; this was a horrific, purposeful act of terrorism. We were at war.
Throughout that morning, we learned about two other planes that had been hi-jacked. One struck the Pentagon and the other crashed into a farm field in Pennsylvania. We saw the horrible destruction as the World Trade Center Towers fell. We mourned for the lives that were lost and worried that there might be more attacks to come. We stayed in bed for hours that morning, unable to wrap our minds around what was happening, but we saw this tragedy from a perspective that we had never before imagined.
All we could think about was you. You, our first baby, big in my belly. As the day unfolded, I sat with my arms wrapped around you and wondered about the world that you were going to be born into. As I cried for the lives that had been lost, I also cried for the loss of innocence in our country. Never again would we have that safe, invincible, sheltered feeling. Before September 11th, we saw terrorism as a horrible thing that happened in other parts of the world, now we would constantly feel the need to look over our shoulder. I mourned for the fact that you would never even know the security that we had always taken for granted. I felt the heartbreak of that day all the more because I saw how each event could impact you, but even as I cried, I was comforted by the feeling of you moving inside of me.
In the days that followed, we found out just how much had been lost. A total of 2,986 people were killed, including 343 firefighters who had rushed into the buildings to save people, but never came out. The anguish of people who could not find their loved ones was devastating, and it seemed as if we might be overpowered by the senseless hate that had caused this tragedy. Then out of the Pandora’s Box of hatred, hope emerged. People came together in ways that I had never in my life experienced. The country stood united in an effort to repair the damage and confront the aggressors. Together we proved that freedom is worth fighting for, that good is stronger than evil, and that love can overcome hate.
Several weeks later, Alan Jackson wrote the song, Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turnin). This song truly captured the feelings that everyone shared surrounding September 11th. The world you were born into had been forever changed that day, but we have nothing to worry about because God takes care of us and has provided us with his greatest gift – Love.
