Like how you kept the embellishing to a minimum. the colors on this page are so gorgeous. The addition of the brown and yellow bird tops it off just right. Interesting to read the techniques used and will have to get busy and try my hand at that kind of thing soon.
This LO is of the baboons and one of the birds in the aviary at the Indianapolis Zoo, when I visited in 2005. I thought this LO was too pretty to put journaling in plain sight, but I prefer to have some sort of journaling to let me know when/what is going on. So I just wrote "Indy Zoo 2005" (simple, I know) on the left tag that's tucked behind the bird photo. That way I'll be able to look back and know when I took these pics, but I don't have journaling as a distraction from the page.
I wanted to keep this LO pretty simple because the paper is so gorgeous all by itself, so I just added some matting, a little bit of ribbon, and a few flowers and tags. I dyed the 2 tags behind the bird photo -- one with Vintage Photo and Tea Dye distress inks and the other with Fired Brick and Tea Dye distress inks. The red tag at the top, I dyed the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink so it wouldn't blend in so much with the red swirls on the bg paper.
