We've been raising and watching monarch caterpillars and butterflies this summer. It's been a fascinating process and the photo of my son reaching out to the butterfly hoping it will land on him is amazing because it is the first time he has EVER wanted to touch any kind of bug! I guess it's different when you've known the bug almost since birth! We found the first caterpillar within a few days of coming out of the egg and the second about a week later. Raising monarch caterpillars is very easy, but you MUST have a source of fresh milkweed leaves. It's the only food they eat. It makes them taste yucky and protects them from predators.

The page with the orange bubbly border is a template by Janet Phillips. The papers I made with overlays from packs 1 and 5 by Christy Sturm, Butternug Squash Designs and NDISB.

Anybody have a use for an extracted milkweed blossom, empty chrysallis on a stick or a monarch stamp? All .png, stamp is about 2000 pixels wide. PM your e-mail address and what for and I'd be happy to send them to you.
