This is my biggest altered item yet, and only my second overall. I made it for my submission in the Altered Items w/a Twist - Round 2 swap. My secret pal, Tigergenesis, is a true animal lover, loves bling, and likes the color combo of black, white, red. So....this is what I came up with.
The tray was thoroughly sanded, painted twice, decoupaged with zebra pp, then sealed twice with Hard Coat Mod Podge. All that extra sanding gave it a very smooth finish, and the Hard Coat is waterproof making the tray durable and waterproof. A matching set of coasters (see other pics) was made to coordinate. Details of other areas on the tray can be seen better in other pics in my gallery.
The pp was cut into 2 inch squares to make the decoupaging on this area of the tray a little more manageable...and reduce bubbles. The red on the handle is my blingy touch...red ruby plastic 6mm faceted beads secured with red wire.
