I started with solid palet card stock paper for the background and the border. I then used a piece of 4.5 x 6.5 textured card stock with the appropreiate phrases for my project. I then used another 4.5 x 6.5 piece of textured card stock paper that had a photo of the untied states on it. I cut the united states out of the picture, not worrying about being perfect, and then I cut the United States into 5 mostly equal pieces. I glues them on top of my phraes card stock and then came the fun part. I went through all the post cards I had to work with looking for phrases or keywords to describe places in the United States. Using a glue stick I arranged them where they should be accroding to where they would belong on the map and glued them to my layered card stock images. I then took two real stamps and put them in the top right hand corner. I used a black colored pencil and a black caligraphy pen to simulate postage marks. I freehanded those myself. Down on the bottom left hand corner I used a chip board travel tag to write in the address my Mother always sends her post cards from. The address has always been a funny joke to us. In the left hand upper corner I used twp chipboard letters to begin the name of my cover and then with two colors of a pentel marker I freehand wrote the rest of the title. In the right hand bottom corner I used a chipboard piece to let everyone know this is all about travel. I also used different edged paper shapers to created different edges on my cut out post cards. Then I used a black colored pencil to draw a route that would be taken between the points of interest on the map. This is clearly a full tour of all the lower 48 states as my Mother does weekly.
