Your dh did a wonderful job journaling this. Man, this is moving. Love the tribute here. Love the way you showcased these family photos; the way you colorblocked some of them and didn't matte some. That is way cool. These photos are amazing. My dh and I used to take our children hiking ALL the time when they were young. We still have our "walking canes".. I soooo enjoyed reading this; brought back hiking memories for me, and also reminded me of how precious and short life is. A truly wonderful tribute.
What a great LO! I love the journaling, Todd did a great job. That's a neat tradition. I like how many pictures you have and the overall design. And that yellow looks great with your pp!!
I asked my hubby to write the journling for this one since it's an important annual tradition in his family.... JOURNALING: I remember when they first told me that my Uncle Dayle had been diagnosed with AIDS. I was still too young to fully understand what that meant, but after he passed away the hike up Blacktail Butte became an annual tradition. I wasn’t there when they hiked it the first time to spread Dayle’s ashes, but I’ve gone many times since and this year marks the third year that Amy has been with us. We gather at the ranch and then make our way to the trail head. We are always prepared with plenty of water, snacks, walking sticks and enthusiasm for our little outing. The girls pick flowers and arrange memorial bouquets on the way up, and once we reach the top Dad visits the tree that marks the dates of Dayle’s life to clean up any rough edges. Grandpa Blake always has Worther’s Original candy at the top, Grandma Gardner snaps plenty of photos… and we enjoy a few moments together before making our way back down again. The hike doesn’t last long… but it’s a special time when we are able to celebrate life and family.
