My Dakota, my precious Lab, died sometime in the early AM Saturday morning of unknown causes. He got sick Sunday the 13th and when I took him to the vet Monday morning he felt sooo bad. He was put on medication and they did several tests but couldn't find what was wrong other than his neck and lymph nodes were hugely swollen, his blood count was 5 times higher than normal and he was running a temperature. He seemed to be a little better after a few days and the vet thought he might be able to come home, but then he took a nosedive, and Saturday morning the vet called with the bad newsl He was gone.

I have to give the vet, Dr. Moye, the highest kudos in trying to save Dakota's life. She had taken his file home with her to study it, and she was with Dakota until after 10 PM Friday night. She said he looked a little better then, but when she got back to the hospital Saturday morning he was gone. She cried right along with me when she gave me the bad news. Dr. Moye, I appreciate you so much, and thank you for trying so hard to save him.

The journaling reads, "I love Hunter and Colby, but you were my heart!"

I tried hard to make this lo look dark and gloomy, That's how I was feeling when I did it, but I wanted to honor his memory some way, and scrapping this lo was very helpful to my emotions (I cried buckets though, still am!). A few of the techniques used were crackle gloss, metal, holographic embossing, distressing inks, and a bunch of other stuff. The broken heart in the lower right describes my feelings right now. My sister described it well..."He was my heart!!"

UPDATE: The final tests came in and Dakota died from Lymphoma, a particularly aggressive cancer. Most of his symptoms were not typical of this so it had the drs. confused. One thing about it is that Lymphoma usually doesn't hit young dogs. Dakota was only 4 1/2 years old. Thanks for all your comments and condolences. They have meant a lot!
