I’ve never been much of an outside person. But, as Nana insists on keeping you OUTSIDE a minimum of 3 hours a day, which, of course, you love (I swear this is one trait you do not get from me) rarely does a weekend go by that you let me get away with not taking you outside to play. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for swimming, tubing, camping near water, going to the beach, but the common theme in all my favorite outside activities is WATER! I love Florida, but it is definitely the “Sunshine State” and our backyard houses some of the most pitiful specimens of pine and oak trees I’ve ever seen, which means we are at full sun 90% of the time. Being the blonde hair, blue-eyed, palest Floridian to ever walk this Earth, I am 100% conscious of how much SUN you are exposed to. But you will just not have it, staying inside all weekend. After much argument, to which I did not win, (imagine losing an argument to a 15 month old) I spent 30 minutes blowing up our $5.00 Wal-Mart pool, 10 minutes getting you changed and the POOL filled, two minutes lubing you up, only to have you out there 15 minutes!!!! I see now, the less time spent fussing with you about having what you want, the more time we might actually spend enjoying the thing! Is this my punishment for everything I ever did to my own parents? I think we are in for a rough road ahead kiddo! I have to LAUGH now for sanity’s sake!! 9. 10. 2005
