What a gorgeous and special layout you have created here. That is such a sweet photo that you have of you and your grandmother. I lost my grandmother from lung cancer too, but she never smoked a day in her life. Grandmothers are truly angels in my opinion :)
Your journaling really touched me. I couldn't even leave a remark the first time I read it, I had to wait and come back. You see, my mom died of cancer at age 35 and left 7 children. She never even got to see or much less hold any of my children. Then my dad died at 55. So I was touched by your expression "Hold me tight". Because, now - I have one grandchild and one on the way (in 10 days or less) and every single time I see my granddaughter, I do just that, I hug and squeeze her tight and give her lots of kisses - every single time I see her. And she loves it! (she's 4 1/2 years old now) I want her to know what it's like to have a grandma - because my kids never had one. (my husband's mom died when he was a kid too). So I'm sitting here, teary eyed, reminiscing about what could have been, but never was. sniff... Needless to say, I was deeply affected by your layout. And it is absolutely wonderful.
That picture and the journaling are so beautiful... just amazing!! And I love the papers you used with the lace and keys, etc... this is a touching page.
Michelle...your words are so powerful here. This LO is one of the best I have ever seen and Ireally think that your journaling is a HUGE part of that...it really is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing this {{HUGS}}
ps - HOW CUTE WERE YOU??? I love that it looks like you are kissing her!!!
Gorgeous!!! If you haven't done any journaling for this page, you need to journal what you wrote in the description...choking back tears here. This is such a wonderful tribute. I'm so happy you were able to have this one picture with her! Great lo!!
Michelle this is such a touching lo! love it all! the pic itself speaks volumes! I love the trim, and love that you fed ribbon through it! it's all so wonderful! once again, terrific lo!!! :)
Wow, this is just beautiful, I love that you did this layout about your grandmother!! Thank you for sharing what you did know about her. I love the flower, the lace, and what a great picture!!
Wow, this is an incredible lo! Love all the colors and texture. I think that this is a wonderful tribute to the grandmother you never knew, and so heartbreaking that she was taken so young. TFS, and hugs!
just gorgeous!!! those warm colors just make me feel the warmth of a grandmother's love! i don't know whether you included the journaling you wrote about in the description, but it really should be included with the lo!! just wonderful and generations should know it!!! TFS!!!
This is so beautiful! Yo always amaze me how you can pull all these elements together...and it always looks AMAZING! I just love it...what a beautiful photo! And perfect saying! :)
I LOVE THIS!!! Oh my goodness... the paper, the stamping, the picture, it's all just perfect. It was a hard story to read about but you captured this rare memory beautifully!
Absolutely beautiful. What a coincidence that I, too, just did a lo today as a tribute to my MIL who was diagnosed with lung cancer on the day of my son's first birthday party. I hope to post it soon (although mine is a very simple lo). I especially love your ribbon through the eyelet and the border on the left side of the page. (Is that pp or a stamp?) Fantastic work!
This is stunning michelle. I love how you weaved the ribon in the lace at the top and the stamping work along the side and for the title (that is stamping right?) I adore all the simple elements. Simply beautiful.
I so love this lo and journaling... I too recently did a lo with a very similar situation ( my FIL holding his first grandson... my oldest... and he too died very quickly after he was diagnosed of lung cancer). This is such a beautiful way of sharing her with your children.
I so love what you've done with the eyelet ribbon!! Also I love the border stamping and the flower bloom!!! This is one very gorgeous LO!! It ROCKS and so do you!!! The pic is sooo beautiful!!
This is just beautiful.....I love the ribbon through the eyelet lace, and the "love is grand" in the flower center. The paper matches so beautifully and the little word on the bottom is perfect. The title is perfect, and I know that she would think this is beautiful too. And, might I say, you were an awfully cute baby. I'm sorry you didn't get to know her, but this is a beautiful tribute.
Grandmother My dad's mother died at age 42. She was told she had lung cancer and died soon afterward. I don't remember her, but her death made an enormous inpact on my life. Her death; naturally, caused my dad to be very very sad and I recall him talking about her and remembering the family talking about what a heavy smoker she was. After that I always hated smoking, and never wanted to be around it. Please no flames, I just wanted to share the fact that this is the ONLY picture I have of her holding me while she was up and well. Right after this, she went downhill quickly and passed away just as quickly.
I look at this picture and wonder what I would have said to my grandmother had I known she would not share my life or be there for my dad, who really needed her. It's hard to imagine what a baby would say at a time like this in communication to it's soon to be "gone" grandmother.. so the only thing I could come up with was, (Hold Me Tight)... because I am sure she did and I'm sure I felt her love and pride as I was her first and only grandchild she would ever touch. I am now 42 and can't imagine leaving this earth without seeing my kid's babies. So, I wanted to do this page now, as a tribute to her age... tfl Phamil (Patti) enhanced and printed this picture for me! oh and btw: I scraplifted this format from Kayli...aka... dpkayli. Her layout (light heart), I loved that format and used it here! Products used: lace from joannes, threaded a fiber thru it to pull out the color. The left side is DCWAV paper, floral rose is Brenda Walton, other 2 prints are Slab 111... and the stamps are Stampin Up. I used Chocolate Chip ink, CTMH (key, buttons, and grandmother, and little hand)..Center of bloom is from Joannes. Gold/cream ribbon from Michaels.
