The U.S. National Park system has a program for children called the Junior Ranger Program. To earn a Jr Ranger Badge, children must complete age appropriate tasks, which varies from park to park. At the Grand Canyon, for example, my dd had to collect trash, go on a Ranger led tour, and complete a 4 page booklet about the geology, flora & fauna of the Grand Canyon. In Yellowstone, she had to complete a booklet after touring the Visitors Center , learning about the fires in Yellowstone (watch a film too), talk with a Ranger, and tour the geysers. So far, she has earned 14 Jr Ranger Badges; she has them displayed in a hanging case in her room.
This LO shows her being presented with her Badge from a Ranger at Yellowstone. The Ranger there asked for everyone's attention in the Visitor Center, so she had an audience! TFL :-)
