OMG These are awesome also!!!! I was a big Duran Duran fanatic back in the day (my walls and ceiling was covered in posters of them). Love the pac-man, rubics cube and MJ :) Great work as usual :D
Soo rad! I adore all images you incorporated though understand your hardship in narrowing them down. LOVE both albums represented in the 1st ones. LOL on the MJ hair-fire nod! The mesh on the Madge ones, along w/ your highlightered-copy technique, are totally 80s looking. And fab to see the 80s pop icons in the last set. Like, totally awesome, fer shurrr!!!
Awesomeness!! Can't wait to see the other ones you do for this set, as many of the others you list I actually remember from the 80s...some of these are just a bit too "old" for me. Eek.
Another wow! Love them all! Love Duran, love Prince, Madonna, love MJ's glove ( I remember when his hair was on fire)! I can't wait to see the rest of the 80's inchies-love the 80's and I still have a Swatch somewhere, and I watched the Smurfs the other day with the kids:)
These inchies are for the 80s category of Valerie's (valechula) round 1 Inchie Mania swap. Each participant in this category will receive a row of four inchies. (I made a set for myself, as well.) References from left to right: -Patrick Nagel album cover art for "Rio" by Duran Duran (1982) and Prince on the movie poster for "Purple Rain" (1984) -Michael Jackson and his one glove on a cassette tape (remember those?), with a nod to when his hair caught on fire during the taping of a Pepsi commercial (1984). -Madonna, "Lucky Star" (1983) In high school, I used to love photocopying images from photos, magazines, books, etc., and going over them with fluorescent highlighters. Special thanks to Deavis (Dolores aka Eon's Momma) for the black mesh. -"Flashdance" and legwarmers (1984), Rubik's Cube (1980), and Pac Man (1981).
It was extremely difficult to narrow down the icons I wanted to use for this set. Among the many that did not make the cut were Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, breakdancing, Jem & the Holograms, Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, Hello Kitty, Mario Bros., Trapper Keeper, Swatch watch, MTV... The list of my 80s faves goes on. (Siiigh.)
As a result, I've decided I will have to make myself a complete set sometime in the future. :D
