I have lived close to the tracks before and it would sound like the train was coming through the middle of the house! I never got used to it. The worset thing was when I taught school and the school was with in throwing distance of the tracks! The kids knew not to bother talking when a train was coming through. We were told if there was a derailment those of us on the side nearest the tracks (yep, that was me) would be history!

Me too, unless the windows are open I never hear the train a block away. But one night I was laying awake and listening and I think 11 million go by. LOL
