the picture was our weddng day 07/25/04 we had a small wedding in a park by a lake. it was the only time we could do it we had already had to cancel the big wedding due to his job and this was his only day off in 12 days and he had to go back the next day. it was worth it, he had been looking for me for 16 years, we dated for a short time in high school, i never knew how he really felt. the journaling is a letter i wrote about him-to him a year later. the vellum unfortunatly got the brunt of an arguement we were in but i decided to use it anyway i think it adds something. and shows LIFE ISNT PERFECT!!! but we can try hard to make it that way

To My Husband
he doesn't see himself the way others do
the way i see him
he is brave, he is courageous, he is a hero
he doesn't like being called heroic
but he is...they all are
into burning buildings
over sides of mountains
into water that could carry them away
dangerous situations are what they face
every time they are on duty
sleepless nights..cold dinners...late phone calls home
these are just some of the many sacrifices they make
the rewards outweigh them all
a home spared...a life given a second chance...
and gratitude and thanks is all they ask

i don't call him a hero i just say "thank you"
thank you for coming home
thank you for loving me
