Journaling reads: I love visiting the Henry Doorly Zoo whenever we go back to Nebraska. Kim, Kyra, Drew, Sally, Kadence and I really enjoyed the brand new butterfly pavilion, as well as teh monkeys and the aquarium. (Another picture) When visitors walk into the glass walled butterfly conservatory, they weill be immersed in a magical world of flowering plants and waterfalls, where hundreds of butterflies flutter freely and land wherever the please - on the floewrs or on your hand. (Another picture) The conservatory has 10 foot high glass walls and a glass ceiling to allow maxiumum light and to encourage the butterflies to fly. In the absense of light, butterflies tend to fold their wings and rest. (Another picture) Butterfly farmers in places as far away as Malaysia, Kenya, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, and Florida will sell the Omaha zoo chrysalises - butterflies in their pupal stage of life. The zoo will also raise various species of butterflies and moths natice to Nebraska and Iowa.
