Sorry it took awhile for me to comment, there are just so many wonderful things about this card that I just didn't know where to start! :) So here I go: First of all you are a genius for even coming up with this idea of making the tree into an advent calendar! I absolutely love the way you did the red pp and the lace to make it look like a tree skirt! And of course the sentiment is perfect as well as the shape to go with it! :) Love the buttons and the star and I really think the way you did your ribbon turned out very well! This is amazing and I truly do LOVE it!!!
What a fun card to make! It's actually an advent calendar too! I created this for the September Card Sketch Challenge - it was to create a free standing pop up card. I increased the dimensions of the card so that it is about 5 x 7 so that all 24 buttons would fit. I used a hole punch on some magnetic sheeting, then attached 24 magnetic circles to the tree and a circle on the back of each button. (I left 4 buttons sitting on the tree skirt so that you can see this.)
The sentiment says "Christmas Eve is drawing nearer" which I thought could work as a Christmas card sentiment but which also went well with the advent calendar idea.
I cut the star from some K and Co. metal borders I bought a few years ago and since the card was having a hard time staying down in its box shape, I also attached 2 photo turns to the back of the card so that when the tree "pops up" you can rotate the photo turns under the tree to the front side of the card to help hold the box shape better. I also used some pp and lace to make a tree skirt.
