I still remember my first Independence Day in the United States. It was a beautiful celebration of Americana. In the heat of summer, there were denim cut-offs and pressed khakis, high school cheerleaders and the local motorcycle group all still and gathered to watch the fireworks. Now we, as generations before us have given up the presence of our friends and loved ones for holidays and celebrations so that they may protect this great concept called FREEDOM. We do not have them beside us as we gaze up at the fireworks but we are all humbled by their gift. These explosions of color are a beautiful display of joy, sacrifice and the human spirit.
