Fantastic job relaying your moblie life onto a LO. As a navy child, I'm lucky, only 8 schools, in 6 moves. Always mid-year.
Funny how college is easier- guess because no moving involved.
That is an awesome LO, I feel you with the no family outside of immediate so this IS your heritage like LO ive often wondered how I would do those LO's so this is great inspiration!
First off.................your journaling is fantastic! I understand some of what you went through, we moved some as a kid, not nearly that much, but we did move several times, and it is hard on a kid! Second, I love what you did on this, the cardboard, and all those tags of the states............and the numbers below, very clever to show numbers to represent moving!! So very clever! And I LOVE that pic, something about it hits home, we have a large family too............actually 11 kids! TFS!
Though we didn't move as many times as you did, I know what you mean. We moved overseas, to 3 countries and then back to the states. I don't think I can name a single student in my highschool classes, or most all years of my schooling. Having this type of childhood does affect you. Very thoughtful and meaningful page. Be sure to copy your description and add it to a card for the page, even if you just tuck it in the back. You will want this preserved. Awesome page that provokes childhood memories.
I love this LO and know exactly what it's like. I grew up an Army brat and know exactly what you were saying with this one. Great job with this one. www.ScrapNwin.com
I did this LO to document my nomad lifestyle as a child. My step-father was in the Air Force and we moved approx. every two yrs. I went to 11 different schools across the country often moving in the middle of a school year(note the use of cardboard paper ...it is for moving boxes). I've listed them here. One must take into consideration that I may have been in the same city but that I was leaving elementary school and going to middle/junior high school etc...We children had fragmented educations and were always the new kids. We never had long term friends and family outside the immediate family. It was hard and sad. The paper with the "A 100" folded over the "F 64" is a copy of an actual homework assignment from the early years of my grade school. It demonstrates the polarized effects on a child moving from school-to-school. I was the only one of us 4 children to graduate high school....My grades suffered and the stress was more than anyone who hasn't lived through this manic lifestyle could imagine. I tell people there is an education that one cannot learn in a textbook by going through this experience, BUT, this education doesn't win you a scholarship, or good grades on state testing, or hopes for a high paying job. Check the title out again and you will understand it better. I am the female standing.
