Journaling reads: We spent Labor Day weekend in Boise. We left here around 4:00 on Thursday, and stopped at the Mayan for dinner in Salt Lake. The Mayan is a jungle/ancient civilization themed restaurant that includes dive shows every 30 minutes or so. We got to see two shows while we were there, and the kids got some balloon creations from a balloon guy (is there even a name for those folks? "A professional ballon twister"? "Balloon artist"?) Lillian got a twisted animal and the boys both got swords.

Then it was into the car and off to Boise. It was a long drive and the kids didn't go to sleep like we hoped. Still, they were so well-behaved in the car despite being tired and bored. Even the babies did well.

In Boise, we enjoyed four-wheeling, a bit of shopping, and floating the river. My mom graciously watched Sarah & Allison (and their cousin Jordon) for us while we floated the river. Grandpa Mellor came, as did Jennifer, Daniel, Andrew, and Spencer. Michael cried and insisted he didn't want to go all the way up until his first 10 yards on the river. From that point on, he loved it. Lillian was adventurous and excited, and loved jumping in the water and floating with her life preserver. It was a fun, exciting trip for everyone, the highlights being the small waves/waterfalls and switching between boats. Grandpa had his own boat and almost everyone got a chance to be his co-pilot.

The babies did great in Boise, and slept in the portable cribs just fine. They even decided Grandma was a lot of fun, at least when Mom wasn't around. Grandma said that Sarah would come and find her when Allison got on the table, and that they both ran over to the refrigerator expectantly when she offered to get them bottles (called "Boss"). They had their funnest adventure, though, when we visited my friend Bev down the street. She has a life-size ceramic cat that sits in her living room. As a child, my brother and I would visit her, pet the cat, and ask for graham crackers. Sarah & Allison went wild for that cat, both of them petting and hugging it and fighting over it a bit. Allison even managed to pick it up once or twice -- and it had to weigh a least 10 lbs. They were so funny
