Awesome stove!! I love it!! I would much rather use a propane/natural gas stove than an electric one. I have electric now & dislike it immensely. TFS!! :)
Great stove I used to have a stove with a dbl oven in it I loved it. But if yours gets that hot, does it mess up your cabinet that sits there beside it?
That is so cool though, even with all its quirks! My youngest ds asked if it was Rachael Ray's stove lol! I so miss cooking with propane. Someday we'll switch ours over.
Sixty-five years is about right on the age of your stove. This is very similar to the one my grandmother, upgraded to, when I was a child. I vaguely remember her complaining about the oven. She was never happy with "her new stove".
She had always cooked on a wood stove that really did heat the whole house, or at least her kitchen, bedroom and sitting room. By the way, my grandmother made the best biscuits anywhere. She always kept them in a cabinet drawer with a tin cover--some of you might have seen those at flea markets--and whenever we visited her, I waited in high anticipation for one or two of her biscuits.
Some of you asked about my stove! Thankfully I pulled this photo out of the recycle bin. I took this while shooting for my Low Light mini! Not a very bright shot but a lighter one (and I didn't have to clean it up to show you, lol) I'm guessing this is at least 65 years old. It's only missing the pot that is used for the well (back right silver circle). The top rectangle folds down flat to cover the burners. The back has a timer and built in salt & pepper shakers. There is a griddle on the top left and 3 burners. The oven is brick and I do have to light it each time I cook. The right pull down door I use for pan storage. This oven won't make a brownie to save it's life....burns them black every time! If a recipie calls for baking 45 minutes....I better check it in 15 minutes. It's taken me many years to learn to use this oven. I used to hate it terribly! I do love it now and wouldn't take a thing for it! I won't lie though, a brand new stove would be sweet! Also, this will almost heat the whole house. The kids learned very early....never touch the stove if it's been lit for a while. It get's so hot on the outside. I can't keep a thermometer in the oven. All the numbers burn off in no time. I could never tell you what temp. I'm cooking with! It's a strange stove!
