Maureen, I just surprised my father with a visit to his home (out of state) for his 70th birthday. He is an amazing man, like your father. I never miss a chance to tell my parents how lucky I am to be their daughter. You, however, hit that point home beautifully. Your layout is amazing and I'm sitting here crying not only from the beauty of it, but the way you so eloquently captured your special dad. I'm so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like many people's lives were enriched by him and now by you. All the best, Cindy
this is such a beautiful way to remember him - what a blessing to have your mom walk with you! the distressing is awesome, especially with the newspaper clipping! I love it!
Maureen, what a precious page!!! I love every little detail, the article is so touching, I loved reading about the little things that made him so special to you and your family! The LO looks great too, you always put a lot of effort and love in your pages and that pays off!! I especially like the "forget me not" note with the flowers. Wonderful tribute, you are a beautiful person and I'm proud to call you my friend!
OK...you got me back. You made me tear up. These are beautiful pages honoring your dad. Love the pebble paper and I love that you got a shot of yours (or someone's) feet...that is a great addition to the page.
Maureen, this is such a beautiful tribute to your Father. I lost my Mother to Alzheimers so I know just were you have been. his Lo is so touching. You have did a wonderful job~~~JoAnn
This is truly special. Today is Thanksgiving Sunday (tomorrow the actual holiday) in Canada and we buried my dad 9 years ago on this day with Thanksgiving that he too was finally free from his pain. I hope doing this layout for you was somewhat healing in your 'missing him'. Such a wonderful, moving tribute.
My Dad died less than a year ago after a courageous 8-year battle with Alzheimer's. Some dear family and friends joined me and my Mom to participate in the 2008 Memory Walk, here in Salem. So many others who also love my Dad and our family, but couldn't be there in person, were definitely there in thought and prayer.....we could feel the love....as we always felt it and drew strength from it during my Dad's illness.
I tried some distressing on this lo....at first I was distressed over the distressing... LOL...but I think it worked out ok. The little pic of my Dad with the Remember You underneath is one of our favorites. He was such a goof :-)...this was taken a few years ago at the Pumpkin Patch...the wind caught his hair just right and he had the funniest smile on his face...was happy to get that pic.
This was a bittersweet lo to do, but again, another way to honor my Dad....he is so deserving of every honor...as is my Mom, for the 53+ years they were a couple. They were (and are still) the sweetest soulmates.
