Proverbs 22:1~This is another lo from the Pow-wow that I attended on 9/28 and my feelings on being Native American as well as a wonderful bible verse. Proverbs 22:!.

Journaling reads:

Every time I attend a Pow-wow I am once again reminded of how the name of the Native American Indian was that of disgrace, slander and savagery. I could not be more proud of my own Native American history and for those who fought while traveling on the “Trail of Tears” for what they believed in. As they were forced from the land they called home, I hope that my family members knew that even though they were being transplanted into an area of unfamiliarity that they should have carried with them their own good names and their worth for there would be those of us who would remember their many tears and footsteps. The bible told that a good name was rather to be chosen then that of riches. The Indian people were rich in land and knowledge of many things and only needed to be introduced to God and His ways. They as a whole had so much to offer and teach had they been skilled in the area of English communication and customs. In my heart they will continue their good name. The English had a great opportunity to teach the Native American people of God and they did. I just wish for the sake of my ancestors that they had found a way that would not have been forceful. So many lost their lives on each side. Perhaps had it not all taken place as it did there would be more people today that can feel the happiness of being connected to an important people such as those of my ancestors, The First People, The American Indian.
