I must admit that I did a lot of research on Spain before our trip and I thought that I was well versed. Hmmm little did I know one of the most important things according to Tom, Chris and Mike was that Spain doesn’t have a legalized drinking or smoking age. I was shocked to find this out one night in Madrid when the server asked us at dinner what we wanted to drink. Well of course Tom said that he wanted a pitcher of Sangria for the table to enjoy. I thought it was a joke, because Tom was good at that, but when the server came back with the pitcher of Sangria I couldn’t believe it. It was my first taste of an alcoholic beverage and I have to say it was very strong. I didn’t drink much but I remember enjoying a lot of the fruit. Needless to say a 100 pound nondrinker became tipsy! Tom and Chris drank the most and were “wasted” and Mike was feeling “buzzed”. I don’t remember much about anyone else’s experience so I can’t elaborate.
When we were in Barcelona Tom, Chris and Mike went into a gift shop and purchased some cigars. They thought they were so big and bad smoking them! I remember snapping this pic of them and thinking my gosh they could go to jail for this if we were home. Viva Espana! Anyways, it really was hysterical when we were sitting in the airport and Miss Senerote told the boys to put the cigars away….well they said that they wouldn’t unless she smoked one. I just couldn’t picture her doing it but when she lit up I was dying with laughter.
