This LO is dedicated to my maternal grandmother.
When I first seen the Damask PP by “ My Mind's Eye' it reminded
me of my Grandmother-so that is how the LO began. The title comes from
something that some people might find odd- but I am very fascinated by;
Walking through cemeteries and reading the head stones- I started doing this as a child.
When most people look at the head stone, they only look at the birth and death date, I really look
at the “dash” between the birth and death date. I always wonder what happened during the person's dash.

Journaling:
So let me tell you a little about my grandmother's dash. Grandmother had eight children-one
who developed Whooping Cough when she was less then a year old and suffered severe brain damage from
the incident-my grandmother took care of her for 33 years. She was the kindest and gentleness
person I have ever known- I know that I am not the only one who felt this way-because every
Friday-Sunday my grandmothers house was full of people-friends, family and
often strangers. (usually someone she just met) On an average weekend day, there
were anywhere from 50-60 people at her home. People would come from miles to visit her
and would often stay into the early morning hours listening to her stories and advise of wisdom. I remember
late at night, she would put on a pot of coffee for everyone and grab the cookies a head into the
living room. In the living room she would share the coffee and cookies and tell us great stories of long ago. After every story ended, there
was always a lesson to be learned. I often still think of how her stories have helped me through life's challenges- and I am
sure the stories have helped many others. “Rab” her nickname-never met a stranger, had so much love in her heart for the entire
world, at least for all of us who loved her so. She would give away her last morsel of food to feed someone hungry-and yes,
that might have even included a dog. We all miss her and I wish I had more time and space to just express how wonderful she really was
and just how much she contributed to the world!
