Side 2 CJ entry for justtoscrap's Life Lessons journal. 100% inspired by SamsMom's November Scraplift Challenge. The title and journaling is definitely inspired by one of my favorite Becky quotes "She lives out loud." Kinda turned into a happy little monster of its own.
Journaling: Our Ani has always been an outspoken soul. Her gift for communication delights us -- usually. When she was born, she cried immediately. As they washed her up, she screamed even louder. Finally, they placed my baby in my arms and she grunted appreciatively and accusingly as she nursed. "Finally, Mom, I was hungry!" this little 7 lb. wonder seemed to say to me. One of her first words was "No". I spanked her. She was contrite. And offended. "Don't hit, Momma. Use your words!" she wept. I wept too. She praises, she thanks, she encourages so earnestly. Her little body and comically little voice contradict the big heart and mind within. "Do you have non-fiction books?" she asked her first grade teacher. "Those are the books I prefer," she explained. No Cat In The Hat for her. She wanted books on bats and snakes. That same voice can make my ears ring. "It's not fair" screeches through the walls when she feels the slightest injustice. A few minutes later that same voice comes from behind me. "I love you, Momma" accompanied by a bear hug. No occasion, no ritual, no prompting. She sings anywhere and everywhere, solemnly informing non-singers that God likes it when we sing. She writes to her Grandma, providing crystal-clear details of our family life, Grandma's happy informant. She never minces words. She talks and talks and talks. I love her. I learn from her. Life is short. Let your voice be heard. Live out loud.
