This is great, especially for your first attempt. I love the way you arranged the pictures...they look really professional on the background. I don't think you need any embellishments anyway...it looks great as it is. But yes, I agree with Karen, maybe change the black text to make it clearer.

Wow! I never would have guessed it was your first digital layout! Looks great! I think the black text in the first oval is a little hard to read. Maybe try changing it to white or possibly the lavendar you used elsewhere? And the narrow green border, could you make it match his belt closer in color? Or scan her belt and use it as a border?

This is my first attempt of doing a digital layout, so please have mercy on me. Suggestions are welcome. I would've liked to use other embellishments but the colors were wrong.
The journaling reads: "The journey of spiritual enlightenment begins with courtesy (respect). We learn to polish the spirit (refinement, and lastly, we learn the virtue of restraint."

Poem: "When we go to the Dojo to learn the rules, we learn to protect ourselves without any tools."

Poem: "I chopped a piece of wood, didn't think I could In half it was split with one swift hit."

Ok, Ok, maybe we need to work on that too. LOL
