Journaling:
"This year’s selection and creation of Halloween costumes was much, much calmer than last year…as one might expect when one purchases ready-made costumes a month in advance. We learned our lesson well last year. Ha ha ha
This year, Pappa decided it was better to purchase than to sew your costumes. Besides, he couldn’t pass up the adorable Rooster costumes he’d happened upon at CostCo one day. Surprisingly, these were only $9 each and of quite obvious quality. Whooulda thunk?! He lucked out that day and we can only thank our constant need for diapers and thus numerous runs to CostCo for such a fortunate find.
We truly got our money’s worth with these costumes. You were able to wear them on three separate occasions – a one-year birthday party for a couple twin friends, the Gemini Crickets Halloween party and the big night, Halloween! Normally, I would have bemoaned the fact that you would wear these costumes only once. Not so this year.
The rooster costumes caused quite a stir amongst anyone who saw them…especially on such adorable twin girls! EVERYone LOVED them! Sized for 2T-3T, they were quite comfortable to wear. It’s a one-piece suit with a single zipper. I imagine that its similarity to the way your sleepers fit made it familiar and comfortable for you guys. The colorful wings and tail were thick with substantial batting inside, making both very soft and durable. The red and gold colors were vibrant and made you both stand out in the crowd.
I was a bit surprised that you guys did not protest the wearing of the rooster head covers. I thought you might have gotten a little hot underneath but you didn’t seem to mind. Perhaps it’s because you were already used to wearing a hat during our outings at the club pool. Perhaps it’s because you recognized it was part of your Halloween fashion statement. Whatever the reason, I’m just glad that you didn’t insist on taking it off. It made it much easier to take photos in all your finery.
You both have become quite the fashion models - naturals at striking a pose. I know it is my fault. What can you do when your own mother is following you around like the paparazzi, snapping away at every gesture and expression? But hey, at times like this, I won’t complain. I got the cutest shots and I couldn’t wait to add these photos to our already burgeoning scrapbooks.
I should add that another mother once told me that for as long as we can avoid putting you guys in princess garb, the better. This is because one day, when you guys do get into all that stuff, you’ll want to be a princess every single day, hour, minute! Let me tell you, Pappa and I had no problem at all with that piece of advice and took it to heart. Too soon, you’ll grow up and want to wear pretty dresses all the time. For now, we’ll just take advantage of your lack of opinion. Ha ha ha
