I bet it kind of hurt to see it come down. Are you going to plant a new one? I know it will take years to mature, but it would be almost like a memorial to that tree you loved!
I wish I had a neighbor who could do that. We have two that need to come down, but they are wedged in the corner of our lot & houses all around. Good shot
We had to cut down some of ours after the ice storm the last two years. DH says that we still have two more that he needs to cut. It is hard to see them go.
I know what you mean having mixed feelings about the tree. A year ago we had a beautiful, huge weeping cheery tree taken down that was a threat to our house. It was one of the first trees we had planted when we built our house in 1975, making it 32 years in the same spot.
Oh my! Sad to lose such a beautiful tree (I love trees!), but better to be safe than sorry. Will you be able to use the downed tree for anything special as a momento from all the joy it added to your home?
TFS :)
Nice capture and nice of him to help out with this! I've had to have 4 of my trees taken down and only have 3 left. I do miss the shade they provided...they were quite big.
My neighbor came over to help us cut down my favorite sugar maple tree. This tree was off of the back corner of my house. We have been afraid that it is going to fall on the house in a storm! The tree has a 4-5 foot long crack down the middle of the tree! I loved this tree, it gave my family shade from the sun, privacy from our neighbors, beautiful colors in the fall, etc. Our neighbor, Steve, was actually about 15-20 feet up the tree here cutting down the last of the big branches.
